How to Download VK Videos on iPhone: Step-by-Step Guide

On Android, a VK video downloads with any downloader in one tap, but on iPhone people regularly get stuck: the VK app won't save videos, and iOS hides downloaded files where nobody looks for them. Here's the working method step by step — from copying the link to having the clip in your Photos gallery.

Why iPhone is trickier

  • The VK app has no "Download" button for videos — only "Save to bookmarks" inside VK itself.
  • Safari downloads files into the Downloads folder of the Files app, not into Photos — many people simply can't find what they downloaded.
  • Some online downloaders don't work in mobile Safari or open ad tabs.

Method 1: Safari + ClipSave

  1. Copy the video link. In the VK app: open the video → "Share" → "Copy Link". Both vk.com and vkvideo.ru links work.
  2. Open clipsave.pro in Safari and paste the link into the field (the "Paste" button grabs it from the clipboard).
  3. Press "Download". Safari asks whether to download the file — confirm.
  4. Find the file: Files → Downloads (or the arrow icon next to Safari's address bar → the downloaded file).
  5. Move it to Photos (optional): open the file → "Share" → "Save Video". The clip is now in your gallery.

Method 2: the Telegram bot (faster)

If Telegram is on your iPhone, the path is shorter — no browser needed at all:

  1. In the VK app tap "Share" → Telegram → pick the @vfixbot bot (or just forward it the link as a message).
  2. The bot sends the video into the chat within seconds.
  3. Long-press the video → "Save to Photos" — and the clip is in the gallery.

A bonus of this method: videos stay in your chat with the bot — a personal download history you can re-share from without downloading again. The rest of the bot's features are on a separate page.

What about Clips

VK Clips download the same way with both methods — via the "Share" link. There's a dedicated guide: how to download VK Clips.

Common problems

"Video unavailable"

Most likely the clip is restricted by privacy settings: "friends only" or members of a closed community. Such videos can't be downloaded anonymously — that's VK's own restriction.

The file downloaded but it's not in Photos

Safari puts downloads into Files → Downloads. From there the video moves to Photos via "Share" → "Save Video".

A tiny file downloaded instead of the video

Check that you copied the link to the video itself (vk.com/video-…), not to a post or profile. To get a video link from a post, open the clip full-screen → "Share".

Even easier in Telegram

@vfixbot downloads videos right in the chat: send a link, get the file. Inline mode for any chat, trimming, GIF, speed control, caption extraction.
